Biography:

Marcello Pirro, born in Naples in 1935, was an influential artist who left a significant mark on the Italian art scene of the 20th century through his experimental approach and innovative work in painting and sculpture. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he developed an interest in historical avant-garde movements and abstract art, drawing inspiration from Futurism and Cubism. Throughout his career, Pirro explored various artistic techniques, including painting, sculpture, and drawing, creating an original language that challenged conventional visual representation. His work is distinguished by the use of geometric forms and the interaction between color and light, creating compositions that evoke a dynamic tension between space and time. Pirro was also a key member of the Naples-based artist group that founded the "Gruppo 58" movement in the 1960s, influencing younger generations of artists. His art has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Italy and abroad, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene.
